This is just the way God made me.  Have you ever said that yourself or heard someone else say it?  Sometimes it’s true, but sometimes it’s not!  It’s true God made me tall even though I used to hate being tall.  I know some folks who are upset that God made them short!  In either case, or in any case, when we resent the way God made us, we are in spiritual rebellion to Him and that is a problem for us and for our relationship with Him!

Years ago, a friend of ours heard the late Jack Frost teach on this subject. She then came for a visit with Gerri and I.  That first evening she asked me a question.  She said, “Roger, if you were in Heaven before you were born and Father God said, ‘son I need you to go to earth and be born there and He showed you the life you’d have, what would your response be?’  I quickly said, “No and hell no!”  She said, Roger that’s an indication there is spiritual rebellion in your heart towards God for the family and life He’s given you!  I said, “OK.  How do I pray to correct it?”  She said, “Are you truly ready to repent and ask God’s forgiveness?”  I said, “Yes, absolutely!”  So we prayed and I repented and asked God’s forgiveness.  We broke the power of my spiritual rebellion and commanded all demonic activity to be gone!  She blessed me.  The next morning when I got up, Gerri and our friend were already up and in the kitchen having coffee.  I felt a little strange…some how different, but I couldn’t put my finger on what it was.  I went to the kitchen door and when I saw Gerri standing there, I couldn’t believe my eyes!  Wow!  How beautiful she was!  It was like I was seeing her for the first time!  I was seeing her through different eyes than ever before!  My life had changed!  Our relationship changed.  I couldn’t believe one prayer of repentance to correct that sin could make such a dramatic change in me!  The power of my rebellion was gone!  There was somehow clarity that wasn’t there before!  Thank You, Jesus!

Now as you can tell from my testimony, I didn’t know my sin of spiritual rebellion was there.  I also didn’t know that the negative consequence was there!  This is just the way I am!  Not so, Roger!  So, every time the power of sin is broken in our life, new life begins!  A new perspective on living and being a child of God!

So what do you think?  Is it possible that there are areas of your life that you believe are God-given and you just have to live with it, when in fact, that is a lie you live by?  Aren’t we more richly blessed when sin is defeated in our life?  Sin is always a burden upon us even when we don’t recognize it’s there, but we sure recognize the change in us when it’s gone!  So, need I remind you that our sin gives the enemy access in our lives to work against us?  I would think we would want to be diligent in our fight to defeat him and allow the Holy Spirit to flow more freely through us bringing honor to God!  Also, freedom from sin brings us closer and closer to accomplishing our God-given purpose and destiny.

So are you fearful, anxious, stressed (Type A personality), angry, bitter or resentful?  Do you struggle with low self-esteem, self-hatred, or addictions of some kind?  Do you feel lost or insecure?  Are you lonely?  Do you feel abandoned?  Do you feel somehow cheated in life?  Do you believe that your struggles with yourself and your life are God-given?  So…that’s just the way it is and you just have to get used to it?  If so, I would suggest you are living a lie freely given by our enemy to defeat you and keep you from achieving your God-given purpose in life!

You can break these shackles and move deeper into your inheritance as a Child of the Most High God because Father has given us the privilege of having authority over all the works of the enemy.  Defeating satan’s work in our lives opens us up to receive and experience more of Father’s transformational love and the new supernatural life that comes with it!
