Often what we focus on we may be consumed by.  The other morning when I awakened Father said, “worship of politics or worship of Me?”  As I pondered and mused over this thought, I realized just how much our country, and the world for that matter, is consumed with political agendas and the upcoming national election.  The question ran through my mind again, “worship of politics or worship of Me?”
I believe that we are all called to be well-informed regarding the political landscape before us.  I believe we should do our homework regarding the issues and the candidates, find what sits right in our spirits concerning party platforms and each individual candidate,  and then exercise our right to vote accordingly.  However, when we become  so consumed with what is happening in our government and the political landscape that we spend more time thinking and reading about it, constantly listening to news programs and/or searching the web for more information and discussing or sharing that information with others  THAN WE SPEND IN INTIMACY WITH FATHER, we have slipped into the idolatry worshipping politics rather than worshipping Him.
We are, indeed, in a very critical time in this nation and Father has said, “all that can be shaken will be shaken.”  He has also said, “If My people, who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray, and turn from their wicked ways, I will heal their land.”  Humility is often first found in our intimacy with our Father and turning from our wicked ways will be found when we are led by our spirits that are walking in control over our souls – our minds, intellects and emotions (our flesh).   Pride is the opposite of humility and our prayers for our nation (or anything else for that matter) will be ineffectual if we are not dealing with our own souls before we begin the prayer process.  “The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
Again, I pose the question to you that Father posed to me, “worship of politics or worship of Me?”   I believe each of us can make a huge impact on the upcoming elections by first dealing with our own souls and their strongholds and then coming before Him in prayer for our country and the outcome of the upcoming elections.
As Roger has often spoken over the years, “America can only spit in God’s face so long before we suffer great consequences.”  Ruth Graham spoke it very well, “If God doesn’t discipline America, He will have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah.”
It is possible  we may see God lift His grace upon America and we will all face the consequences of that.  The question then will be, have we been busy about building His Kingdom here on earth as it is in Heaven – a Kingdom that will have no end?   If not, then we will never be prepared to live with the coming  consequences.
Let’s put first things first…fully surrender our minds, our emotions and our wills to the perfect will and timing of God for our lives so that we will be moved by Holy Spirit working freely through own spirits and finally, let’s spend more intimate time with Father than anything else we do.  Remember, it’s not the ‘doing’ for Him.  It’s in the ‘being’ with Him!  Out of being with Him will then what come what we do FOR Him!
Abundant blessings,
Gerri
